Careem inks MoU with Qatari ministry

MENA-based car booking application Careem has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications in Qatar for the regulation and license of ride-hailing service technology in Qatar. The MOU follows recent moves by the authorities in Qatar to regulate the rapidly expanding transportation industry.

Careem is currently the first and only car booking platform to have completed this step required by the Qatari authorities. Careem entered this market in 2014. The company has 3 million registered users to date from more than 28 cities in the MENA region and Pakistan, along with an increasing fleet of more than 50,000 Captains.
